You're Self-Care Called...It Needs a Spring Cleaning
Affirmations, Reflections & Joyful Practices to Refresh Your FLOW
"There is a flow to life, and if we live in a way that moves with this sacred current instead of against it, we can experience incredible synchronicities, coincidences, and opportunities." — Sonia Choquette
Welcome to all the new readers. I am grateful to have connected with so many new people in the last two weeks.
I hope you’ll find a bit of creativity, energy, and joy in my posts and poetry.
This week’s topic: Springing cleaning your self-care.
I am always (always) looking for ways to simplify life while keeping an eye on joy.
It’s why I created my FLOW self-care method back in 2019.
Many of you are very familiar with FLOW, but I often forget that new people are always coming into my orbit.
And even I need gentle reminders to get into my FLOW each season.
Just the other day, one of my longtime coaching clients (and wonderful writer & creative goddess), shared this with me, “I definitely pulled out your FLOW method the other day for a spring reset. Works like a charm! Thanks as always.”
When I tell you I had the biggest smile on my face after reading this—it made my week.
So, if you’re ready to spring clean your self-care and get back into your FLOW, let’s do it together.
Spring into FLOW
The great thing about FLOW is you can pick and choose what works for you. Just start with one letter a week.
Feed your body, mind, and spirit
Spring Reflections:
What has my body been whispering that I've been too busy to hear?
Which mental inputs are cluttering my thoughts rather than clarifying them?
How might I nourish myself differently as hormones fluctuate this season?
Spring Affirmations:
"I honor my changing body's wisdom."
"My mind deserves spaciousness and regular clearing."
"Feeding my spirit is as essential to my wellbeing."
Joy Practice: Sensory Treasure Hunt
For one week, commit to discovering one new sensory delight each day. Keep a list of these discoveries so you can refer back to them. This is a practice I often do with clients—it’s simple and fun.
Love yourself and your season of life
Spring Reflections:
What aspects of midlife am I resisting that could become sources of power?
Where am I still holding myself to standards that no longer serve me?
What permission slip do I need to write for myself this season?
Spring Affirmations:
"This exact season of my life holds wisdom and gifts unavailable at any other time."
"I release the pressure to look, feel, or perform as I did in previous decades."
"My experiences have because of where I am in life's journey."
Joy Practice: The Joy Journal
I love my joy journaling practice. It’s super easy and can be done in less than a minute. Each night, write down at least one that brings you joy. Check out this post for details. I promise you—it will make a difference in just a week.
Own your time and space
Spring Reflections:
Which commitments deserve to stay on my calendar and which can be released?
What energy drains could I eliminate to make space for what truly matters?
How might my physical spaces better reflect who I'm becoming rather than who I was?
Spring Affirmations:
"My time is precious and I choose how to allocate it."
"I create spaces that support my authentic needs."
"Setting clear boundaries is an act of self-respect."
Joy Practice: Create a FLOW Space
Take a few minutes to create your FLOW space. It can be the top of book shelf, the corner of your nightstand, or even a basket. Find details in my Flourish & Flow Self-Care Guide here.
Weed out what's not working and welcome something new
Spring Reflections:
What habits or routines have I outgrown in this season of life?
What old stories about myself am I ready to release?
What might emerge if I intentionally created more empty space in my schedule?
Spring Affirmations:
"Letting go creates room for what truly matters."
"I welcome change as I release what's not working."
"Letting go welcomes new beginnings."
Joy Practice: The Quick Clear
Choose one small area each week that feels overwhelming or cluttered—a drawer, your digital photos, email subscriptions, etc. Set a timer for five minutes and focus solely on weeding out what no longer serves you in that space. This micro-decluttering practice creates immediate visual evidence of simplification while gradually creating space for what brings genuine joy.
Menopause in Three Lines
Over on my Notes, I’m sharing haiku poetry inspired by my menopause journey. Menopaiku—if you will.
Can she surrender to the smell of fresh cut grass? April on her feet.
Thanks for being here. Let me know which spring FLOW practice you’re going to try this week.
